Donations At Work

ConcordiaWith your support Friends of Adoptive Families has been able to  improve the lives of orphaned children in South Korea, China, Philippines, and Guatemala.

Our 2010 Evening at the Races event was very successful and allowed us to make contibutions to:

  • $7000.00 to Korea Social Services for basic need  items, child care worker salaries, and post adoption reunion services
  • $3000.00 toward China Service Project 2010

Our 2008 event raised $13,600.00 to benefit the many children overseas still waiting for their forever family.

  • $1200.00 donation to fund the salary of a childcare worker at Concordia Children’s Services in the Philippines.
  • $10,000.00 donation to Korea Social Services Home in South Korea for diapers, formula & worker salaries.
  • $2500.00 donation towards the China Service Project  schedule for Fall 2009. Volunteers travel at their own expense to the Yanjiao Orphanage outside Beijing where they renovate and make improvements to help special needs children.
  • $1300.00 donation to Family Adoption Consultants to purchase books and training materials for new adoptive parents and help off set the cost of the Hague Adoption Convention yearly maintenance fees.  The Hague protects children and their families against the risks of unregulated adoptions abroad and ensures that inter country adoptions are in the best interests of children.  The Convention also serves to prevent the abduction, sale of, or traffic of children.

A portion of our donation was used to help purchase lap top for Li Feng. Li Feng lives at an orphanage in the Zhejiang province of China and suffers from polio. Our 2006 donation to China’s Tomorrow Plan financed Li Feng’s leg surgery.  Our China Representative, Mrs. Cai has been able to meet with LiFeng several times over past few years and keeps us up to date on her progress.  Above is Ms Cai presenting LiFeng with her with her lap top.  She was very happy & appreciative to everyone who has been helping her.   There is no internet access at the hospital so Ms Cai downloaded some pop songs & Mr Ji, director of the Tomorrow Plan input some pictures of her.  LiFeng said she doesnt know how to type but she will practice it.
